3/10/2010 - Stalker Day (Again)

We had a slightly less focused show today with a few too many lines crossed, but ultimately it was solid show with a lot of good music. Shout out to ATX Reebzy F.Baby who continues to call in despite our desperate pleas for him to stop. We've had the chance to evaluate some of our listenership lately, and are very impressed by some of the regulars. Thank you so much! Show will be up at some point.

3/3/2010 - Music week?

We ended up mostly just playing a lot of good tracks today. Unfortunately, neither Travis or frequent Ear Candy in the Evening guest Jared Edling made it onto the show to day. Obviously we were disappointed, but we still had a solid show with guest DJ Dancin Anson Jeng from the show before ours. They are called Fickle Tracks and Feral Cats so be sure to check them out if you're feeling feisty. They are from 8-9pm every Wednesday and one of the more consistently solid programs on the station. We're struggling a little bit with the shows, but be patient and they will be up.

2/24/2010 - Forza Inter

Ah the Champions league. Looks like Inter got the best of last year's Champions League finalists Chelsea FC. As such we chose to play Inter's song, Pazza Inter Amala. Feel free to check it out on YouTube; it's a real treat because the players themselves actually sing the song. On a more serious note, Blogger has actually sent us a cease and desist letter for the 2/10/2010 post. We're not entirely sure why to be honest. It said we had some copyright issues when all we did was link to our own show and a website for a sneaker blog, neither of which violated copyright laws. Nevertheless that post is down for the time being. : ( That being said we were blessed with a visit from the Wolfpack, who very well may have their own show soon enough. If you want to know what they might be playing, just keep in mind that they requested Super Mash Bros. So. Yeah.

Lisztomania by Phoenix (Check them out on pitchfork.com)

2/17/2010 - It's V-Week!

Welcome back! Things are going downhill over here at Ear Candy in the Evening, as it looks like yesterday's show is headed to the Malfunction Show Series. We all thought that was a thing of the past, but alas, we sucked it up once again. At this point I would usually apologize and promise a better show for next time, but history suggests we're doomed next week too. We did, however, uncover the true meaning of V-Week, differentiate it from V-Day, and discuss reproductive organ-themed chocolates. So maybe not all hope is lost. Anyway, here's our track list:

Do You Realize?? by The Flaming Lips
Bad Reputation by Joan Jett (By request of Sarah Pate)
Paparazzi Lightning by Ghostland Observatory
Voices by Ryan Adams
Come Pick Me Up by Ryan Adams (By joint request of Sarah Pate and Chidimartha)
No Children by The Mountain Goats (By request of ATX Reebzy F. Baby)
Electric Feel (Justice Remix) by MGMT (By request of Mikey Ashtray Davidson)
Hang On to Your Ego by The Beach Boys

Plainclothes Man by Heatmiser

Same time next week.

2/3/2010 - Deep Regret

Welcome back! We really appreciate the fact that you frequent our blog over here at Ear Candy in the Evening. Anyway, we hope you liked the show. It's currently the latest installment in our newly-christened "Malfunction Show" series. And hopefully the last. All that to say, we're sorry for our actions. You deserve better. You demand better. And we'll be better. So fire up your internet-browser-of-choice this time again next week and we'll be better. Maybe blacker. So Chris and I are gonna punish ourselves for tonight's actions and we'll see you then. Until we meet again.

Now Picture This Man Naked in Front of a Mirror...

1/27/2010 - Greg Oden = Miley Cyrus??

Well we had a great show tonight, and I would absolutely love to give some evidence. Unfortunately we had a few troubles yet again with the podcast software (my fault, no one else's), so we are unable to post the show. We did get a chance to take down the tracklist for the show so here it is:

Whatever (Folk Song in C) by Elliott Smith (For Mikey Ashtray Davidson)
Between Love and Hate by The Strokes
Spaceman by The Killers
Giving Up the Gun by Vampire Weekend (By request of Mikey Ashtray Davidson)
Golden Brown by The Stranglers (By request of ATX Reebzy F. Baby)
Interracial Dating by L'homme Run
Autoclave by The Mountain Goats
Valerie by Mark Ronson feat. Amy Winehouse
Sexx Laws by Beck
Lights Please by J. Cole (By request of ATX Reebzy F. Baby)

For the most part our discussion was dominated with the Internet photos of Greg Oden that have leaked. For those of you who are unaware, Greg Oden is a center for the Portland Trailblazers of the NBA. Apparently his college girlfriend has leaked nude photos of him (sexts if you will) taken by his phone. So I guess we can only say one thing. Thank you Greg Oden's ex-girlfriend. Hopefully we'll do a better job with the podcast next week. Thanks for listening.

1/20/10 - Malfunction Show

There's some pretty strong evidence to suggest that this show was a huge waste of time. Apparently no one could really access the stream, particularly off campus. I'm not entirely sure why that is, but it has happened before with another show. I do have one idea of how to fix it; so hopefully it won't be a recurring theme with our broadcast. That being said, we did get to enjoy some delicious Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food immediately before so it's tough to get too worked up. Here's our tracklist for the night. And remember, it ain't trickin' if you got it.

It's Not You It's Me by Coconut Records
Heartache by J. Cole
Verses From the Abstract by A Tribe Called Quest
This Charming Man by The Smiths (By request of Anson...Jeng)
VCR by The xx
Friends, Lovers, Or Nothing by John Mayer
I Turn My Camera On by Spoon
Prog by Pinback
Down In a Rabbit Hole by Bright Eyes
Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus

Cousins - Vampire Weekend

Also as promised here is the video for Cousins (in HD obviously):

Please let us know if this video sucks. The word out of Anson's mouth is that it looks like a car commercial. Feel free to punch him if you disagree, but be forewarned, he yells really, really loud.

1/13/10 - Clustercuss

Well this was the first show of the calendar year so it was pretty rusty by we had the oppurtunity to play some good stuff, and we hope that you can stick around til we oil our respective rusty Tin Men. Also we have to put the track list up so we will be doing that for now until we begin to neglect these duties. It turns out we were also unable to put up the podcast of the show due to some technology related issues. Fiddlesticks. Next time.

Coming Up Easy by Paolo Nutini
Primary Colours by The Horrors (By request of Mikey Ashtray Davidson)
Phantom Punch by Sondre Lerche (By request of ATX Reebzy F. Baby)
Cousins by Vampire Weekend
Bruised by Jack's Mannequin

Ladies and Gentlemen...

Welcome welcome welcome to the new least important site on the web. We are Ear Candy in the Evening, a radio show for a still budding college radio station in Memphis, TN. We hope to have you listen in once in a while though we certainly cannot expect any kind of sobriety from you. We are still figuring out how to use this site, and the radio station, so please be patient with us and look forward to many vast improvements of this blog and our radio quality. As of right now we will be appearing Wednesday nights from 9pm-10pm (though we make frequent appearances on the show immediately before us). Should you tune in, you should mostly expect a wide range of music and probably some nonsensical chatter. But do not expect any sobriety as it is only fair to keep the H.M.S. Station/Listener Relationship on an even keel. Either me (Chris), or my co-host Travis be updating this blog pretty much weekly with podcasts of the shows, witticisms, nude pictures, pop-ups giving you a new XBOX should you follow a few easy steps, and of course, Christian side-hugs. Until then, please taper your disappointment with our poorly-crafted craft and kindly calm yourself with some ill-purchased pharmaceuticals.
